What the Deloitte Company Is in 2026: Three Firm Names
The Deloitte company is an organization of member firms coordinated from London. Read the three names in its legal title, US$74.5 billion, and the gaps.
- Deloitte is made up of firms that are members of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, a private company limited by guarantee incorporated in England and Wales. DTTL serves no clients.
- The organization reported aggregate global revenue of US$74.5 billion for the fiscal year ending 31 May 2026, and a workforce of nearly 500,000.
- The three names in the legal title are three lineages: a London office opened in 1845, Touche Ross, and a Japanese firm founded in 1968.
- Deloitte University is an internal training campus in Westlake, Texas. It awards no degree and admits no outside students.
- Four business units each carry a published growth rate and none carries a published amount, so no dollar figure for Deloitte consulting exists in its own documents.
Deloitte is made up of firms that are members of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, a private company limited by guarantee incorporated in England and Wales. Those firms reported aggregate global revenue of US$74.5 billion for the fiscal year ending 31 May 2026, and a workforce of nearly 500,000. This page reads what Deloitte publishes about itself and names what it withholds.
The Deloitte company name holds three separate firms
Three names sit in the legal title, and each one is a different firm from a different country. Almost no profile of this organization says where they come from, and the answer is published on Deloitte's own heritage pages.
Deloitte is the London accountant William Welch Deloitte, whose office opened in 1845. Touche Ross was the Anglo American firm that merged with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells in 1989. Tohmatsu was Japanese, and its story is the one nobody tells.
Deloitte's page on its Japanese firm, checked 8 October 2026, dates it precisely. "Tohmatsu, Awoki & Co. formed in 1968 in response to the Japanese government's demand for financial discipline in the midst of major economic expansion." The trigger was regulatory: "Japan's Ministry of Finance called for the formation of audit companies (kansa hojin) and compulsory membership for every CPA."
Then the merger sequence, in Deloitte's words. "Tohmatsu, Awoki & Co. became a member of Touche Ross International in 1975. When Deloitte, Haskins & Sells merged with Touche Ross in 1989, Tohmatsu joined as an equal partner to form Deloitte Touche Ross Tohmatsu International."
Two practical points follow. The legal name carries no ampersand and no comma, so the spelling typed by thousands of searchers every month differs from the one on the company. And the Japanese firm still exists under the brand, with "13, 000-plus professionals" by Deloitte's own count on that page.
Reading about a consulting firm is not preparing for a consulting firm.
Take the readiness checkDeloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited coordinates and sells nothing
The structure page that carries the legal wording is not where a reader guesses it is. The path under the global about section returns 404. The wording lives on the US member firm's governance page, checked 8 October 2026, and it is worth reading closely.
"Deloitte is made up of firms that are members of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (also referred to as 'Deloitte Global'), a private company limited by guarantee, incorporated in England & Wales." A company limited by guarantee has members instead of shareholders, and no share capital to pay out.
The page then removes three assumptions in two sentences. "Deloitte firms are not subsidiaries or branch offices of a global parent, but instead are separate and distinct legal entities. The Deloitte organization is not a partnership, single firm, or multinational corporation."
Organization is the word Deloitte uses for the whole, and it is doing deliberate work. The member firms "are primarily organized on an individual country or regional basis, and each operates within the legal and regulatory framework of its particular jurisdiction(s)."
The footer of every Deloitte page closes the loop: "DTTL (also referred to as 'Deloitte Global') does not provide services to clients." So the entity named in the brand sells nothing, and the entity on your offer letter is a national firm. Our page on the types of consulting firms sets that model against the partnership model the strategy firms use.
What US$74.5 billion divided by its own headcount gives
Deloitte publishes a revenue figure and a headcount, and one of the two is rounded. That single choice decides how precise any per head figure can be.
| What Deloitte publishes | Value | Fiscal year |
|---|---|---|
| Aggregate global revenue | US$74.5 billion | ending 31 May 2026 |
| Workforce | nearly 500,000 | same release, 24 September 2026 |
| Countries and territories | more than 150 | same release |
| Aggregate global revenue | US$70.5 billion | ending 31 May 2025 |
| US member firm revenue | $35.7 billion | ended 31 May 2025 |
| Learning investment | nearly US$700 million | FY2026 |
Divide $74,500,000,000 by 500,000 and you get $149,000 of revenue per person per year. The denominator is a rounded figure rather than a count, so treat the result as an order of magnitude. Run it against the prior year's wording of "over 470,000" and the same revenue gives $158,500, which shows how much the rounding moves the answer.
One division is clean, because both halves share a fiscal year. US member firm revenue of $35.7 billion against global revenue of $70.5 billion, both for the year ended 31 May 2025, is 50.6 percent. Check it: 35.7 divided by 70.5 is 0.5064. So roughly half of this organization's revenue came from one member firm that year.
That proportion is the single most useful fact here for an applicant. A candidate applying in the United States is applying to the firm that books about half the network's revenue, and the American process is the one Deloitte documents most fully.
The regional layer Deloitte added on 1 June 2026
Deloitte reports four business units, and the reporting is asymmetric in a way worth knowing before you quote it. Each unit carries a growth rate in local currency. None carries an amount.
- Audit & Assurance, described as Deloitte's financial reporting and trust business.
- Strategy, Risk & Transactions, which Deloitte calls "Deloitte's comprehensive strategic advisory business." Revenue grew 4.4 percent in local currency.
- Technology & Transformation, covering engineering and technology led transformation.
- Tax & Legal, covering compliance, policy change and legal departments.
So a dollar figure for Deloitte consulting does not exist in Deloitte's own documents. Any page that prints one built it somewhere else. Where the strategy work sits, and what a member firm files that the organization does not, are laid out on Deloitte strategy consulting.
The 2026 release also records a structural change. "FY2026 marked an historic moment when Deloitte partners voted to create Deloitte EMEA, which launched on 1 June 2026," with more than 1.5 billion euros of incremental investment announced. A regional firm now sits between the national firms and the London company.
Regional growth followed a clear order in the year to 31 May 2026. Asia Pacific grew fastest at 7.5 percent in local currency, EMEA at 3.5 percent, and the Americas at 3.2 percent. Compare that with the year before, when the Americas led at 7.1 percent, and the geography of the growth has inverted in twelve months.
What Deloitte University actually is
Deloitte University draws more search volume than most of the organization's own service pages, and it is an internal training campus. It awards no degree, admits no outside students, and has no application route for the public.
Deloitte's Leadership Center page, checked 8 October 2026, puts the location and the character in one sentence. "Our existing quarter-mile-long facility sits within the beautiful natural landscape of Westlake, TX, approximately 30 miles northwest of Dallas. Part learning center, part ranch-style retreat, DU offers multiple venues for learning, eating, networking, and well-being."
The build is dated and costed on the organization's own history of it. "Ground was broken in October 2009 on a $300 million investment," and "Deloitte professionals began attending leadership development programs at the 800-room DU facility in Westlake, Texas, in October 2011."
The audience is stated and it is closed. The campus offers "Deloitte professionals and clients leadership and technical training at locations across the globe." Employees and clients, and nobody else.
The count of campuses disagrees with itself across two Deloitte documents. The Leadership Center page says "five more DU facilities have been launched across the Deloitte network: Paris, Hyderabad, Mexico City, Singapore, and Toronto." The 2026 revenue release says "additional facilities in six locations around the world" and names none of them. The sixth is counted and never identified, so we report both statements and neither as settled.
Are you ready to get an offer at a consulting firm?
Where Deloitte Digital sits inside the organization
Deloitte Digital is an offering inside the consulting work rather than a company. It has no separate legal form, no published headcount and no published revenue, and it is one of several names that sit under the brand.
Deloitte's own description is the clearest one we found, and it comes from a member firm page. Deloitte Belgium, checked 8 October 2026, writes that "Deloitte Digital combines Deloitte's globally recognized strength in business transformation and technology implementation with the capabilities of a world-class digital agency." It adds that the services "help you advance customer- and design-centric thinking throughout your organization, from strategy through execution."
The region matters here and we name it on purpose. No global or US page carrying that description answered our requests, and a statement about this organization that names no country is already wrong somewhere. What Deloitte Belgium publishes about a brand is Deloitte Belgium's publication.
Monitor Deloitte is the other name applicants confuse with a separate firm, and it behaves differently again. It arrived through a court sale in 2013 and it has no recruiting route of its own. The detail, including the four different words Deloitte uses for it, is on what Monitor Deloitte is.
The practical rule for an application is one sentence long. None of these names is an employer, so check the posting for the legal entity, and expect a national firm.
A founding dated to one day in April 1845
Deloitte dates itself to a day, which is rare and makes the claim checkable. The heritage page, checked 8 October 2026, writes that "the organization's true origin was with the opening of William Welch Deloitte's office in London on April 23, 1845."
The founder gets one line of intent on the same page. "In 1845, he had a vision to build something that would last, to bring change to the accounting industry and beyond." Everything else about the man on that page is third party material rather than Deloitte's own record.
The arithmetic of the anniversary holds. From 1845 to 2026 is 181 years, which matches the organization's own phrase of "more than 180 years." One older block on the same page still reads "more than 175-year history," so the date is the thing to quote rather than the round number.
The heritage pages also name a founding outside the Anglo American line. "Akintola Williams founded the Deloitte predecessor firm Akintola Williams & Co. in 1952 in Lagos, Nigeria." A network assembled from national firms has several founding stories, and the published history says so.
One use for a candidate. When an interviewer asks why this organization, the 1845 date and the 1989 merger are facts you can defend. A sentence about the founder's character is a borrowed narrative, and the partner across the table knows which is which.
Where a Deloitte application is actually decided
This page is the context. Selection happens in a case interview and a behavioral interview, and the detail sits on pages written against what Deloitte publishes for each country.
Deloitte publishes ten unlisted cases, a five step method of its own, and a British route that contains no case interview at all. Those differences by country, and the Recreation Unlimited case where profit is half of contribution, are on the Deloitte case interview guide. That page also records that Deloitte Consulting and Monitor Deloitte share one application pipeline in the United States.
How Deloitte sits beside the other three networks on disclosure, fiscal year ends and entry doors is on the Big Four consulting firms. That page exists because a combined Big Four revenue total mixes fiscal years that close up to twelve months apart.
Pay is documented, though never by the organization in full. Certified salary filings give bands by title and city, and they are laid out with their sources on Deloitte salary. No figure from them is repeated here, because a pay number inside an overview page goes stale without warning.
What the Deloitte company does not publish
Six absences, each named so that no estimate slips in to fill it.
There is no count of member firms and no list of them. There is no revenue amount for any business unit, only four growth rates, so the organization publishes no dollar figure for its consulting work. There is no headcount by unit, by country or by office, which means it publishes no count of consultants either.
There is no exact headcount at all. Nearly 500,000 is the only form the 2026 release gives, and the 2025 release used two different wordings for the same year inside one document, "over 470,000" in the body and nearly 500,000 in the standing description. Where a figure is rounded we say so rather than treating it as a count.
There are no consolidated audited accounts, and that is structural. An organization of separate and independent firms coordinated by a company limited by guarantee has no single entity whose accounts would cover the whole. The aggregate figures carry no auditor's opinion.
There is no acceptance rate for any office or program, and no published date of incorporation for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited itself. We looked for the latter across the heritage, governance and press pages and found the three firm lineages dated and the London company undated.
What we score when a Deloitte case gets practiced
Everything above is material an interviewer can check in half a minute. The part that answers to practice is the case, and the case rewards habits rather than knowledge of this organization.
A structure answer in our drills is marked on four dimensions. The weights belong to us and to no firm: Coverage 45, Separation 25, Depth 20, Concision 10. We read them out of our own code and publish them on how an answer is assessed, and the drills themselves sit at /tools, free, with no account.
Two limits, stated plainly. The drills teach no business content, because a case interview tests reasoning on figures handed to you in the room. And our assessment simulators are not live, at 0 of 6 by our own count.
For this organization the cheapest useful order is three steps. Work the ten cases Deloitte publishes, out loud and with the arithmetic written down. Then run one drill of each type and repeat whichever dimension your lowest score names. Then read the country page for the office you are applying to, because the British and American processes differ on whether a case appears at all.
Before you go: where do you actually stand?
A short diagnostic: a few questions about where you are, one real case, and a score on the dimensions firms publish. Free, no card.

Edits the firm and case guides on this site. Reads each claim about a recruiting process back to the firm's own page before it is published, keeps the source ledger dated, and owns the corrections.
How this guide was made
- Written against a published editorial process, not from memory. Every claim about a firm's process is either linked to that firm's own page or absent. We say what we could not verify rather than filling the gap.
- Each page carries a dated source ledger, below. When a firm changes a programme or a deadline, the date tells you how far to trust what you just read.
We look for first-hand candidate accounts for every firm guide. Where we found none we could source, the page says so and carries the firm's own words instead. Nothing here is dressed up as testimony, and if your own experience contradicts what you read, tell us and we will correct it and date the change.
Something wrong or out of date here? Tell us and we will correct it and date the change.
