Deloitte Strategy Consulting 2026: No Line of Its Own
Deloitte strategy consulting sits inside Strategy, Risk & Transactions, one of four businesses in a $74.5 billion network. No Consulting line is reported.
- Deloitte reported US$74.5 billion of aggregate global revenue for the year ending 31 May 2026, across four named businesses and no business called Consulting.
- Strategy work is reported inside Strategy, Risk & Transactions, which grew 4.4 percent in local currency and carries no published dollar amount.
- A line literally called Consulting existed through fiscal 2024 and disappeared with the reorganization first reported in fiscal 2025.
- The network publishes no dollar figure for any business in any year we read, and no headcount for consulting or for strategy.
- The entity that signs a US strategy offer is Deloitte Consulting LLP, a Delaware subsidiary that is separately capitalized and liable only for its own work.
- One member firm does print the missing number. Note 3 of Deloitte LLP's UK accounts restates fiscal 2024 as Consulting GBP 1,968 million, a figure the network has never published.
Deloitte strategy consulting is the strategy work its member firms sell under the Monitor Deloitte brand. Deloitte reports it inside Strategy, Risk & Transactions, one of four businesses in a network that turned over US$74.5 billion in the year to 31 May 2026. Sources checked 7 October 2026.
What Deloitte strategy consulting actually is
The phrase covers three different things, and Deloitte publishes a different name for each. Separating them answers most of the query.
| What you are asking about | Deloitte's own name for it | Where it is published |
|---|---|---|
| The brand on the work | Monitor Deloitte | Service pages under a consulting path |
| The reported business | Strategy, Risk & Transactions | The annual revenue announcement |
| The firm that signs | A national member firm | Each country's legal structure page |
The brand comes first because it is what a client sees. Deloitte's global practice page heads a section "Strategy consulting tailored to your business" and describes "Monitor Deloitte's strategy practitioners".
The reported business comes second, and it is wider than strategy. Strategy, Risk & Transactions also holds risk work and deal work, so any figure attached to it is a ceiling on the strategy practice rather than a measure of it.
The firm that signs comes third, and most write-ups skip it. There is no global company to join or to hire. The brand's origin, its 2013 purchase out of a court-approved sale, and what it sells by country sit on what Monitor Deloitte is. This page handles the network around it.
The practice has a brand, no reported line and no company of its own. So what it earns, how many people it has and how many offices it runs have no published answer.
Reading about Deloitte is not preparing for Deloitte.
Take the readiness checkThe four businesses Deloitte reports, and what each sells
Deloitte's financial year ends on 31 May. The fiscal 2026 announcement, datelined New York on 24 September 2026, reports four businesses and gives a growth rate for each.
| Business | FY2026 growth, local currency | The work it carries |
|---|---|---|
| Audit & Assurance | 5% | Audit and assurance |
| Strategy, Risk & Transactions | 4.4% | Strategy, risk advisory, deals |
| Technology & Transformation | 2.5% | Engineering and technology-led change |
| Tax & Legal | 5.8% | Tax and legal services |
Two of those four are grouped, and the pair is what Deloitte consulting services means inside the reporting. The announcement states it plainly: "Our consulting services, Strategy, Risk & Transactions (SR&T) and Technology & Transformation (T&T), help organizations identify, assess, and solve challenges at the heart of their business." A heading reading "Consulting Services:" sits above the pair and carries no growth rate of its own.
Read the growth figures carefully, because the page gives three. A summary bullet says "a 6% increase". The body says "a 3.8% increase in local currency and 5.7% increase in USD from FY2025". The 6 percent is the dollar figure rounded, since 74.5 over 70.5 is 1.0567. A page quoting only the 6 percent has dropped the local currency number Deloitte leads with.
Growth by region is published on the same basis: Asia Pacific fastest at 7.5 percent in local currency, then EMEA at 3.5 percent, then the Americas at 3.2 percent. The same announcement records a structural change worth noting if you are choosing an office: "FY2026 marked an historic moment when Deloitte partners voted to create Deloitte EMEA, which launched on 1 June 2026", with over 1.5 billion euro planned.
Anyone asking what Deloitte consulting does gets an answer at that grain and no finer: two businesses, one carrying strategy, risk and deals, the other carrying engineering and technology-led change. What the announcement never gives is a dollar amount for any of the four.
Deloitte stopped reporting a line called Consulting
A widely repeated sentence says Deloitte no longer publishes a business called Consulting. We went to the announcements to test it, including four that are no longer live, and it holds with one qualifier that matters.
| Fiscal year | Businesses reported | A line called Consulting |
|---|---|---|
| FY2022 | five | yes, grew 24.4% in USD |
| FY2023 | five | yes, grew 19.1% in local currency |
| FY2024 | five | yes, grew 1.9% in local currency |
| FY2025 | four | none |
| FY2026 | four | none |
Through fiscal 2024 the five were Audit & Assurance, Consulting, Financial Advisory, Risk Advisory and Tax & Legal. The fiscal 2024 release announced the change itself: "Over the course of FY2025, we are aligning our capabilities into the following business units: Audit & Assurance, Tax & Legal, and two units housing our Consulting services: Strategy, Risk & Transactions and Technology & Transformation."
The timing matters, because the reorganization and the first restated report are a year apart. Fiscal 2024 results were "presented in accordance with our prior business unit structure". Fiscal 2025 was the first year published on the four-unit structure.
Now the qualifier, because the bare claim overshoots. The word Consulting left the income statement and stayed everywhere else. It survives as the "Consulting Services" grouping label, as a live URL path holding dozens of service pages, and as the name of a US legal entity. What it no longer has is a reported figure of its own. The site's Services menu carries no item labeled Consulting either.
So the honest formulation is narrow. Deloitte reports no business called Consulting and has not since fiscal 2024, which means anyone quoting "Deloitte Consulting revenue" at network level is quoting a line that is not reported. One member firm did print one, as a later section shows. A four-way comparison of the large networks on this point sits on the big four consulting firms.
The firm you would sign with is a national one
Deloitte's structure page is blunt about what the brand is. Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited is "a private company limited by guarantee incorporated in England and Wales", the member firms "are legally separate and independent entities, which cannot obligate or bind each other in respect of third parties", and the paragraph closes with "DTTL does not provide services to clients."
The United States shows what that means in practice. Its structure page names the entities that do the work.
| US entity | Registered with State Boards of Accountancy |
|---|---|
| Deloitte & Touche LLP | yes |
| Deloitte Tax LLP | yes |
| Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP | yes |
| Deloitte Consulting LLP | no, an unregistered entity |
| Deloitte Transactions and Business Analytics LLP | no, an unregistered entity |
Each is "organized under Delaware law, is separately capitalized, has its own Chairman, CEO, and Board of Directors". The registration split tracks the attest boundary: the entities that sign audit opinions are registered, and the two that do no attest work are not.
The liability sentence is the one to keep. "When clients contract for the provision of services with one of Deloitte LLP's subsidiaries, only that subsidiary is responsible for the provision of those services and is the only entity with potential liability for any claims that may arise in connection with such services."
Two readings follow. A US strategy engagement is a contract with Deloitte Consulting LLP, and the network's $74.5 billion stands behind none of it. A US offer comes from that same entity, which is why its wage filings are readable at all; what it files sits on Deloitte consultant pay.
One document puts figures on those entities. Deloitte's US transparency report for the year ended 30 May 2026 gives a mix by entity, and Deloitte Consulting LLP is the largest piece: 54.8 percent of US revenue and 31.9 percent of earnings. A footnote carries the only dollar amount published for any single US entity, and it goes to the audit arm, Deloitte & Touche LLP, at $9,643,025,000, with the rest of Deloitte US at $27,162,415,000. Those sum to $36,805,440,000.
And there is a wrinkle worth recording. This entity list still carries the pre-2024 vocabulary. It names Consulting and Financial Advisory, which stopped being reported businesses in fiscal 2025. The legal entities outlived the segments named after them.
What a member firm files that the network does not
Deloitte LLP is the UK member firm, and UK partnership law makes it file accounts the network's announcement never contains. It sits at Companies House as an LLP under number OC303675, and its financial statements are published in full.
Note 3 gives revenue by business in pounds, the disclosure missing at network level.
| Business | FY2026 £m | FY2025 £m |
|---|---|---|
| Audit & Assurance | 1,141 | 1,105 |
| Strategy, Risk & Transactions Advisory | 1,038 | 1,027 |
| Tax & Legal | 1,477 | 1,451 |
| Technology & Transformation | 2,153 | 2,093 |
| Total | 5,809 | 5,676 |
Both columns close: 1,141 plus 1,038 plus 1,477 plus 2,153 is 5,809.
Then comes the figure the global announcements never printed. The same note restates the prior year on the old five-business structure, with amounts: "Audit & Assurance £1,090 million, Consulting £1,968 million, Financial Advisory £757 million, Risk Advisory £568 million and Tax & Legal £1,363 million". A line called Consulting does have a published amount, for one country, for the year to 31 May 2024. It was 34.2 percent of £5,746 million of UK revenue.
The note also publishes the bridge. Of that £1,968 million of Consulting, £1,892 million moved into Technology & Transformation and £76 million into Strategy, Risk & Transactions Advisory. Those two add back to 1,968 exactly.
Two further disclosures have no network equivalent. UK average profit per equity partner was £1,125,000 in fiscal 2026 against £1,051,000 in fiscal 2025. And the Dutch member firm publishes full-time equivalents by business, the only consulting headcount split we found anywhere in the organization.
At network level the one dollar split is geographic: the 2025 impact report gives the Americas $38.8 billion, EMEA $22.0 billion and Asia Pacific $9.8 billion of a $70.5 billion total, with its own note that rounding stops the three from summing to it.
Are you ready to get an offer at Deloitte?
Strategy consulting against management consulting at Deloitte
The two phrases get used as synonyms, and Deloitte's own filings show where they come apart. Management consulting is the wider label, covering operations, technology and organization work alongside strategy. Deloitte reports that whole trade as two businesses grouped under one heading, Strategy, Risk & Transactions and Technology & Transformation, and the strategy work sits in the first of the two beside risk advisory and deals.
The UK restatement puts a proportion on the split. Of the £1,968 million Deloitte LLP had reported as Consulting in fiscal 2024, £1,892 million moved into Technology & Transformation and £76 million into Strategy, Risk & Transactions Advisory. Divide each by the total: 1,892 over 1,968 is 0.961, and 76 over 1,968 is 0.039. So 96.1 percent of what one member firm called Consulting was reclassified as technology work, and 3.9 percent as strategy, risk and transactions.
Read that as a reporting decision for one country in one year rather than as a measure of how the practice spends its days. No other document we read splits the old Consulting line in money, which is why the boundary between the two phrases has to be read off a restatement note in a single country's accounts.
Seventy-nine applications for every person hired
The one place Deloitte publishes figures a candidate can actually use is the data highlights page of its 2025 Global Impact Report. Three numbers there sit together and are meant to be read together: "473,050 Deloitte people", "97,390 new hires", "7.71M applications received".
Our arithmetic on Deloitte's published figures, and the division is ours rather than the firm's:
- About 79 applications per hire. 7,710,000 divided by 97,390 is 79.2.
- A 1.26 percent rate of hire across the network. 97,390 divided by 7,710,000 is 0.0126.
- A fifth of the firm joined that year. 97,390 divided by 473,050 is 0.206, so 20.6 percent of the headcount was hired inside the fiscal year.
Read all three with the same caveat, and it is a large one. These are network totals across audit, tax, both consulting businesses and internal functions, in every country. Deloitte publishes no split by business, by country or by program. So this is emphatically not a strategy consulting admission rate, and anyone quoting it as one has invented a number.
The headcount comes in three published versions, worth knowing before citing one. The impact report says 473,050, the fiscal 2025 release "over 470,000", and the fiscal 2026 release and structure page "nearly 500,000". All three are Deloitte's, from different documents and years.
What Deloitte does not publish about its strategy work
This section is long because the brand structure removes most disclosures a reader expects, and one widely circulated set of figures turns out to have no source.
- No dollar amount for any business at network level, in any year. Checked across five announcements, fiscal 2022 through fiscal 2026, on both the old and new structures. Deloitte publishes growth percentages only, and even the Consulting line carried none at network level.
- The four per-business amounts in circulation are not Deloitte's. Figures of 14.7, 12.2, 10.3 and 33.4 billion dollars are widely attributed to the fiscal 2025 report. We searched both releases, the highlights page and the full 7.6 MB impact report PDF. Zero occurrences of any of the four. They sum to 70.6 against a reported 70.5, the signature of a third party deriving them from growth rates.
- No revenue or headcount under the Monitor Deloitte name. The word Monitor appears nowhere in the fiscal 2026 announcement.
- No headcount for consulting, or for strategy. The network publishes one firm total and no split by service line. One member firm does, and it is Dutch.
- No fiscal 2026 figures beyond growth. There was no 2026 Global Impact Report on 7 October 2026, so there is no fiscal 2026 regional split and no exact fiscal 2026 headcount.
- No US revenue, US headcount or partner count. The US structure page names entities and quantifies none of them.
- No office count, globally or by business.
One absence is structural. A world figure for this practice would have to be added up across legally separate firms that, in Deloitte's own words, cannot bind each other. No entity's accounts would contain it.
How we score a strategy answer, and who wrote the weights
Nothing above helps with the part of a Deloitte process that is actually scored, so here is where our own material sits.
Deloitte publishes a five-step approach to its case and scenario interviews and no marking scheme at all. No weights, no thresholds, no scores. That is consistent across every page in this file. What we publish instead is our own rubric, and the weights are ours rather than the firm's: on structuring answers we score Coverage 45, Separation 25, Depth 20 and Concision 10 out of 100.
Those four weights say something arguable and worth disagreeing with. Putting 45 on coverage means a candidate who maps the problem broadly and shallowly outscores one who goes deep on a single branch. We think that reflects how a first answer is received. Deloitte has never said so, and we are not claiming it has.
What our tools add is volume and immediate correction, which an article cannot provide. What they do not do is teach content. They mark structure, arithmetic and synthesis on cases you work, and the reasoning behind each weight is on our method. Deloitte itself hosts ten complete practice cases with a suggested answer under each question, free and with no account; where they live is on the Deloitte case interview guide.
If you came for the firm rather than the interview, carry away the entity question. Ask which member firm is on the paperwork, because that decides your employer and your counterparty.
One note for anyone checking this at the source. Deloitte serves every year's announcement from a single undated address, so each one overwrites the last. The four earlier years quoted here were read in archive captures, dated in the source list below.

How this guide was made
- Written against a published editorial process, not from memory. Every claim about a firm's process is either linked to that firm's own page or absent. We say what we could not verify rather than filling the gap.
- Each page carries a dated source ledger, below. When a firm changes a programme or a deadline, the date tells you how far to trust what you just read.
We look for first-hand candidate accounts for every firm guide. Where we found none we could source, the page says so and carries the firm's own words instead. Nothing here is dressed up as testimony, and if your own experience contradicts what you read, tell us and we will correct it and date the change.
